We took a walk along the main street in town. New Smyrna Beach is a pleasant little town with very little going for it. Seems to cater more to residents than tourists. I did see something that took me back about 45 years....they have a drug store with a "fountain". Open for breakfast and lunch; just like the one Daddy had after he retired. Fortunately, I did not have to work there, but younger sister Judy, Mother, and Daddy worked hard there for several months before Daddy gave it up. You just don't see drug store fountains much anymore.
Today's run was easy and uneventful. The scenery was really quite beautiful (but would have been even more beautiful with sunshine). Here we are going through the L.B. Knox Bridge at mile 816, which is the first of 4 bascule bridges we went through today.
This should have been named Pelican Island....
Following are pictures of New Smyrna Beach:
Greg and the pups are walking on the foundation of the Sheldon House, which was burned
during the War Between the States on July 26, 1863.
This marina is all decked out for the Holidays.....If we weren't moving around, I'd string more lights on our boat:
