Georgetown, SC

We left Osprey Marina at 8:15 am and traveled down the Waccamaw River to Georgetown, SC, arriving at 1:00pm.  We did 30 miles....a short day...but we had the current against us so it was a little slow-going.

Here is a couple of photos I forgot to put in yesterday's post.  The pups had a blast running and playing at Osprey Marina....there was a lot of room for them to play.  Oscar only fell in the water once ;-)...

The Waccamaw River is said to be the most lovely section of the ICW, and in a way I can see why they say that.  It is wide and lined with trees and winds its way with a lot of smaller creeks feeding into it.  I'm sure we just went through at a bad time.  It was cold and cloudy, and the trees had already lost any color.  So it was a grey day.

This is where the ICW canal merged with the Waccamaw River

This photo and the next photo are where a large creek flows into the Waccamaw

I'm looking forward to seeing this in the Spring: leaves on the
trees, blue skies, must be gorgeous!

We are at the Harbor Walk Marina in Georgetown, SC, which is right at the downtown historic district.  Shortly after docking, we took the dogs for a walk along Front Street in town. Georgetown is a popular stop for cruisers and tourists.  It's the 3rd oldest city in SC.  The entire downtown is a National Historic District.  We stopped at the Kudzu Bakery at the suggestion of friends and the guidebook and bought bread, cookies, and a few other specialty items.
