We spent the day running errands and doing chores around the boat. Here's a picture of our welcoming committee when we came back from the laundry:
Since writing about grocery shopping and visits to West Marine, cleaning dock mung off the hull and greasing the helm are all pretty boring, I thought I'd list a few revelations I have had.
- Small spaces (like the interior of a boat) get dirty much faster than large spaces (like a condo).
- One of us always remembers where we put something on the boat...we would never find anything without each other.
- It takes two people to off load and on load a dog when the gate is beyond the end of the dock finger.
- Dogs can "hold it" much longer when there is no grass in sight.
- Mushrooms don't hold up very well in a boat's refrigerator.
- I still have not discovered my threshold for the lowest temperature I can tolerate without shore power and heat. Last night's 55 degrees required the heater, but only overnight. Must be 60 degrees, the same for lowering the top on my car.
- The enclosure panels refuse to roll up when they are cold.
- It takes two people to do most things on a boat.
- Free WiFi at marinas is worthless when the guy in the next slip is streaming video.
- Motoring is just as challenging as sailing.
- We get a good night's sleep in a small bed. It's warm and comfy with a quilt, a down throw, and a blanket and all that body heat (including the pup's).
- Marina ads are not always completely true.
