We traveled down the Pungo River, then to the Pamlico River. It was another calm, clear, beautiful day on the water. We saw a lot more boats today, probably because it's Sunday. We had the southern migration down the ICW, along with the locals out for the day. Some boats we have seen everyday and have "chatted" with them on the radio from time to time. Here are pictures of a few of them, taken this morning in the Pungo and Pamlico River:
From Pamlico River, we entered Goose Creek, followed by the Goose Creek and Bay River Canal. The most beautiful part of the day was traveling the Bay River into the Neuse River. The water was like glass and the air had warmed to almost 70 degrees. This is where we saw several schools of dolphin, a few that came right up to within a couple of feet of our boat. We didn't get any pictures of the dolphin...they were too fast. But I do have a lovely pictures from that area:

We then entered Adams Creek and Adams Creek Canal. The Canal was particularly beautiful, with many waterside homes. While I was at the helm, Greg went out onto the deck to enjoy the warm sunshine. Our fearless puppy, Oscar, followed him out there while Jazz stayed in the cockpit with me.

More homes....
These were huge!
We saw several of these fishing boats in Adams Creek
Adams Creek Canal brought us out into the Newport River, just north of Beaufort and Morehead City, NC. This section is where we passed the 200 mile marker on the ICW. So we've done 200 miles on the ICW, plus the 140 miles between Annapolis and Norfolk. Only 700 miles to go!
We will be staying at Morehead City Yacht Basin for two nights. Plan to spend the day tomorrow doing laundry, shopping, and cleaning and doing a little maintenance on the boat. We ate out for the second time on this trip (the first being with Tommy and Daisy in Norfolk) at Floyd's 1921, a very good Southern Seafood restaurant.
