Hampton, VA

Here are a few photos of Reedville, VA, taken yesterday afternoon:

We pulled away from Reedville, VA this morning around 7:30 am (daylight savings time).  The weather was considerably different than the last two days.  There was little wind or wave action.  We had to motor the entire day.  We wanted to make Norfolk, VA, but we realized around 3:30 pm that it would be well after dark when we would arrive there, so we cut into a beautiful little marina on Back River in Hampton, VA.  We docked around 4:30, after traveling 34 nm.

Windmill Point Lighthouse, off the north point
of the Rappahannock River - when we passed this
lighthouse, we sailed further south than we ever have
on the Chesapeake Bay!

We have tied up at Bell Isle Marina, a quiet little off-the-beaten-path marina in Hampton, VA.  It was a little scary getting here as the dredged channel was 7' at it's deepest and as some points we only had about a foot under our keel.  The channel snaked back and forth and around a sandy point off a beautiful beach, which I'm sure is very crowded on summer weekends.  They also have RV hookups.
